Features — IMO Compendium on Facilitation and Electronic Business
IDsure maps directly to the IMO Compendium data model — enabling seamless, standardised exchange of seafarer credentials, certificates, and port clearance data across the global maritime ecosystem.
The global standard
The IMO Compendium on Facilitation and Electronic Business is the official international reference model for standardising maritime data semantics and formats. It defines more than 850 data points across 34 declarations — from crew lists and cargo manifests to STCW certificates and Port State Control inspection records — enabling interoperable, electronic data exchange between ships, ports, flag states, and Maritime Single Window systems worldwide.
The Compendium is the data backbone behind the FAL Convention's mandatory Maritime Single Window requirements. Any system handling official maritime documentation needs to speak this language.
Platform architecture
Every data field in the IDsure platform is aligned with the corresponding IMO Compendium definition — including nationality codes, certificate identifiers, STCW endorsement types, and seafarer record book entries. This means data flowing through IDsure is immediately compatible with port systems, flag state registries, and Maritime Single Window platforms without conversion or manual re-entry.
Flag states and training centres connect to IDsure through a REST API that accepts and returns data in IMO Compendium format — making IDsure a standards-compliant node in the global maritime data network, not a proprietary silo.
IMO Dataset #31
IMO Compendium Declaration #31 — Seafarers Related Information & STCW Certificates — is the dataset IDsure works with most directly. Every seafarer record book issued through IDsure, every STCW endorsement, and every certificate of competency is structured around the IMO-defined data fields for nationality, identity documents, training records, and certification status.
This standardisation means a seafarer's credentials issued by one flag state can be verified by a port state control officer, a ship manager, or a crewing agency anywhere in the world — without translation, phone calls, or manual cross-checks.
Connect your system
Flag states, port authorities, training centres, and shipping companies can connect their systems directly to IDsure through our external developer API. Register seafarers, issue record books, query certificate status, and retrieve STCW data — all in IMO Compendium-aligned formats, authenticated with secure token-based access.
The API is designed to slot into existing Maritime Single Window infrastructure and crew management systems without rearchitecting your data flows. Connect once, and your system gains access to blockchain-backed, IMO-standardised credentials.
